Hormone Replacement Therapy

Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) can help restore the balance of hormones in your body. As we age, our hormone levels naturally decline, leading to various symptoms and potential health concerns. At our health and wellness center in Columbia, MD, we offer personalized HRT plans to address your unique needs and improve your overall well-being.

New Patient Visit

The initial visit, you meet with the practitioner and tell us about yourself, your goals, symptoms, and health history which will be used to formulate a customized program to meet your lifestyle objectives. You will complete your blood test to check hormone levels with us.

What are Hormones?

Imagine hormones as tiny messengers that travel throughout your body, directing different parts on how to function. They play a vital role in many essential bodily processes. For example, they guide our growth and development from childhood to adulthood.

Hormones also significantly influence our mood and emotions, helping us navigate stress and maintain emotional well-being. Furthermore, they regulate how our bodies use energy, impacting our metabolism.

Finally, hormones are crucial for sexual development and reproductive function.

Why Do Hormone Levels Decline?

The natural decline of hormone production is a normal part of aging. In women, the significant drop in estrogen during menopause is a major contributor to hormonal changes. Certain medical conditions can also interfere with hormone production. Additionally, some medical treatments, such as surgeries or chemotherapy, may have an impact on hormone levels.

What are the Symptoms of Hormone Imbalance?

The symptoms of hormone imbalance can vary greatly depending on the specific hormone affected and the individual. Some common signs include hot flashes and night sweats, which can disrupt sleep and daily activities. Mood swings and irritability can significantly impact relationships and overall quality of life.

Sleep disturbances, such as insomnia, can lead to fatigue and difficulty concentrating. Women may experience vaginal dryness, which can affect intimacy and comfort.

Loss of libido can impact relationships and overall well-being. Weight gain can be challenging to manage and may contribute to other health concerns.

Fatigue can leave you feeling drained and unable to enjoy daily activities. Hair thinning or loss can affect self-esteem and confidence.

Finally, decreased bone density increases the risk of osteoporosis and fractures.
